This program is currently a 1:12 Teacher Child Ratio with a maximum of 12 students per class daily and a floater to support. This beautiful classroom is a bright spacious classroom with windows looking out to our amazing backyard with double doors that open and ventilate the room with fresh air all day. Each child in this program is given the time and space to develop and build healthy relationships in a cohesive semi-structured learning environment. This classroom provides students with child initiated activities as well as teacher directed activities throughout the day. The "Get Set for School Curriculum “ from Learning Without Tears is introduced in this program and will set the foundation for developing language and listening skills, fine motor development and eventually an understanding of shapes, colors, numbers and the alphabet. Our embedded curriculum also includes a variety of themes, holidays, cultural celebrations, a character counts program and so much more.
The morning routine begins at 9:00 AM with an invitation to explore the classroom. A gentle transition into the first morning circle follows and includes, songs, stories and time for large group activities. AM Snack along with potty breaks for changing diapers and or potty training (when ready) is from approximately 10:00-10:30 AM. Outside time in our beautiful backyard gives the students ample areas to play. Covered play areas with a large grassy area, sandbox, swings, a track for riding bikes and push cars amongst other outdoor activities all allow for children to run, play, climb and get their wiggles out. A second circle time including calendar, along with individual & group activities, art, music, story time, and classroom exploration leads into lunch time at roughly 12:00 PM just prior to our Half Day Dismissal at 12:30 PM. When weather permits we are enjoying Outdoor School in our backyard daily.
We offer a Half Day Program until 12:30 PM and a Full Day Program until 5:00 PM. AM Care is also available from 8:15 AM for an additional monthly fee. You may choose from 2 days a week to 5 days a week. Set schedules are critical to balance teacher/child ratios. The Full Day Program allows for a quiet nap time beginning at 1:00 PM until approximately 2:45-3:00 PM. From 1:00-5:00 it is a combination of all ages on campus together. From 3:00-5:00 PM we offer an afternoon snack, indoor/outdoor activities, and an afternoon circle time until we close for the evening. There is no need to be potty trained in the Two’s & Three's Program although students moving up in the fall will begin this process in this class if they haven’t already. Children do need to be fully potty trained by July 1st prior to the upcoming school year.
Prior to enrollment, we will invite you to tour the campus and meet with the Director. During your tour, we will visit the classroom, ask you to share your child’s previous school experience (if any), inquire about his/her development and together evaluate if your child is ready for a drop off program here at Cornerstone. We will ask for transparency with language development and behavior development as well. We are able to nurture and educate young children of many different abilities but we are not qualified or equipped for serious behavioral challenges. We have a strong home school connection so that we can develop and implement a strong support system for your child, our staff and your family. Should concerning issues arise within the classroom that we can no longer support, we will ask for you to step away from the program until they resolve. Re-entry into the classroom will be evaluated prior if availability still allows, as we do not hold enrollment in these circumstances. We have implemented fair but strong policies concerning hitting, biting, and or other physical concerns in order to provide a safe and healthy classroom/school environment for all students.
