Since reopening in May 2020, we have worked diligently putting policies and procedures in place that follow all guidelines given to us directly from the California State Department and Centers of Disease Control (CDC).

  • Staff of Cornerstone wear masks unless safely distanced from children and only during reading, teaching of phonics, and or other activities were children will benefit from seeing or hearing the correct pronunciation of language.

  • We kindly request that parents do not enter the facility unless asked to do so.

  • Children will have their temperatures taken daily upon arrival and during the day if need arises.

  • Children showing signs of illness will not be allowed to attend school and or will be sent home if necessary.

  • Hand washing is conducted upon arrival, before and after meal times, before we dismiss and throughout the day.

  • All toys, school materials, equipment, and other high touch areas are disinfected throughout the day.

  • Students do not share sensory materials (play-dough, oatmeal, slime, etc.) and or school supplies such as crayons, pencils, markers, scissors etc.

  • Ages 2-6 are grouped into a 1:12 Teacher Child Ratio (into desginated programs) and stay with that group during the “core day.” A floater assists trhoughout the day in all classes.

  • AM & PM Care children combine

  • Parents are are kindly asked to travel safely and keep in mind that if traveling by air or to high Covid-19 areas, they may be asked to provide a negative Covid Test upon their retrun to school.

  • It is mandatory to notify us if your child or anyone in your family has been exposed or has tested positive for Covid-19.

  • If we suspect that our institution has been compromised you will be contacted.

General Precautions

Increased awareness and practice of the following precautions, by both adults and students, is strongly suggested.

  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds after using the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, and after touching public surfaces. If this is not possible, please consider using a hand sanitizer.

  • Cover your mouth when you sneeze or cough by using a tissue that you immediately throw into a trash receptacle or by covering your face with your elbow if no tissue is available.  Do not cough or sneeze into the open air or into your hands and if you do so wash your hands immediately following.

  • In public places, place yourself at least 6 feet apart  you and anyone especially if coughing or sneezing.

  • Do not come to school if you don’t feel well. Students, staff, and parents who are symptomatic of illness are encouraged to remain home until symptoms, including but not limited to coughing, sneezing, runny nose, vomiting, diarrhea and or fever, subside.

  • Increase your immunity by taking supplements like Zinc and Vitamin C, Vitamin D, eating well, and getting enough rest.

  • Do not travel by air if it is not essential. Please consider being a part of our “School Family” by keeping our families and staff health and safety in mind.

Sick Policy

  • Our current sick policy and procedures will remain in place and be enforced throughout our school year.

  • Children are asked to remain at home if showing signs of the following: vomiting, diarrhea, runny nose with yellow or greenish discharge, a productive cough, fever, body aches, chills, and or bad headache.

  • Children are sent home for a fever and if showing any sign of the above mentioned.  Children are required to stay at home until fever-free for 24 hours minimum without using fever reducing medications.

  • Please be available to pick up your child immediately (or have someone on file that can do so quickly) in the event your child becomes ill at school.

Covid-19 Policy

While the virus may be most contagious when the infected person is clearly ill, some individuals may infect others even when they don’t have obvious symptoms or any symptoms at all. Given that risk, children who have been exposed to someone who has respiratory illness should remain home for 14 days to see if they also develop symptoms of illness. Home quarantine of an exposed child reduces the chance of spread to other children and staff. If no symptoms appear within 14 days, the child may return to school.

The child must stay home in isolation and not return to school for a minimum of 10 days after onset of symptoms AND until their symptoms have improved AND they are free of fever for at least 72 hours without fever-reducing medication. A doctor’s note may be required to return to school.
